You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
"Ah yes, of course." I'd say as I sat down in the chair, crossing my arms. "Lets skip the chit-chat, and get down to business, shall we?" I'd begin fiddling around inside of my leather satchel, pulling out random objects as I spoke. "The name is Eric Baldiram, but you must know that, no?" I'd look at the hag expectedly, as she continued to stare me down. "Oh come on! I'm only the previous most famous gladiator of the east?" I'd still be looking at the hag expectantly, she clearly didn't know who I was. "Well, that doesn't matter. I was kidnapped by a gang of bandits, hired by my last competitor and thrown in a maze-like dungeon with nothing but a torch. I, with my brilliant wits and incredible fighting skill, managed to escape. Whoever kidnapped me clearly saw they were no match to me, and so tied me up and shipped me to a prison off shore, or tried to." I'd pull out a short-sword, dagger, and small picture of myself after winning a battle and handed them to the hag. "They tried to, anyway, but the boat wrecked on some rocks as it was coming in to dock. I escaped, and found a woman named Ildriga living in the woods. She took me in and cared for me, until it became too dangerous. That's when she sent me over to you, saying you will continue to care for me, yes?" I'd look to the hag hopefully. She was now smiling. It wasn't a happy smile, but I don't know what kind of a smile it could've been.
