You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—” Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Example:
I stare at the figure, studying its features closely. I attempt to make words exit my mouth, but the silence continues. I finally decide to take a step forward, and I clear my throat.
"I...I am Jonathan, I come from the n...north." I would say, almost gasping for air after each word out of fear.
I attempt to continue. "I left my home to...set out from the...warmongering ways of my family...I hope to become a scribe..."
I take in a massive breath of air, as the hag continues to watch me. "I am not sure where I...am, But I am trying to find a place to settle down to...begin my journey of..becoming a scribe."
I finally feel confident speaking to the hag, believing that she means no harm. "My family is all savages, and my siblings are following in their path of taking innocent lives. I wanted to get away from that, I can not deal with the thought of slaying another person. I have always loved writing, but my father would beat me when he found me doing it, so I finally decided to run away, and I am now hopefully safe."
*I take a long pause, hoping that the hag would reply*
