Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Edwick sat down, took a deep breath and started to tell his story: 'I was born a Highlander. Life is not easy. You need to work hard to survive. My mum... Let's just say she wasn't so good at parenting, and the same goes for my dad. In the end, they chose to divorce due to a lot of arguing and stuff. I still don't understand them to this day, though. After that, things only got worse, so I chose to escape. It was hard living alone, but I had to learn. At least I have freedom now, and I will not let anyone take it from me. That's where my life really began." Edwick stopped for a second, trying to remember his past, then opened his mouth again. "After I escaped, I started wandering around, trying to find a place to stay. According to my bad memory, I was 15 or 16 years old by that time, not old enough to do anything big, just small jobs to feed myself. But it didn't take long for me to realise that living alone and finding money in this world was difficult, so I tried to find a new way to make more money. Hunting was an interesting job for me back then, yet it was a high-risk job. But I had nothing to lose, so I tried it. Edwick smiles with nostalgia. 'Ah, I remember my first job. It was to hunt a bear. Yeah, I was crazy to hunt a bear at 16. Anyway, I gave it a try, but when I arrived, the bear was already dead. The only thing left was a little cub. He looked scared, just like me, so I decided to take him with me. I named him Little Jack. After that, we hunted together, and I formed a little group of people who went hunting with me and Little Jack, who isn't so little anymore. I saw them as my family for the first time in my life. That was the first time I actually had a family, but happiness doesn't last long, does it? It's been a long time since we hunted as a team, but a tragic accident happened. They decided to hunt the wolf leader without me; they planned to surprise me with the gift for my birthday, and they took Little Jack too."
Edwick's eyes well up with tears. "I was suspicious about why they took so long. They told me they were just going to collect herbs, so I didn't warn them. By the time I arrived, there was blood, bone and the corpse of my beloved family, and the body of little Jack, who had been torn to pieces by that intimidating wolf leader, who was looking straight at me. Rage, sadness and confusion flooded my head, so I decided to pour it all onto that big wolf. The fight didn't last long; after all, I'm just a man. Luckily, it was weakened by my team, yet I couldn't kill it. It fled, and I lost my left eye in the fight. I went back to where I started, but no one was left by my side. Loneliness started to eat away at my heart bit by bit. I tried to continue the hunt, but it wasn't the same without them. Oh, and I skinned Little Jack and wore his skin on my head." Edwick started laughing like crazy, but immediately stopped.
"Ironic, isn't it? After all, this is my life: alone on the edge of the world. This is my final destination. I will go back to my homeland, back to where I belong. I wish there was still hope for me back there." Edwick stood up, his eyes empty yet fuelled by something. He looked at the hag and said, "That's all. So, if you're satisfied, step aside and let me pass. I won't stop living my life like a loser." He continued walking forward, hoping that there was still a chance for him.
