A son of a farmer in the Republic of Vrakai. His mother died in childbirth, raised by only his father he grew a softness in him that was a result of never having motherly love. He felt alone and never bothered to pick up on the gossip circulated by the rich merchants in Varkai. He would put all of his being into his work. He wanted to eventually learn more about his heritage. He knew his mother was a Heartlander. When his father died he set out with his uncle who was a traveling merchant, to see the world and grow up as a man. Raided by Orcs Marcus lost his uncle too and has become horribly depressed. Now wandering around searching for a purpose, perhaps in God.

They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
