    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is a form of powergaming - absent of physical aspects. An example would be overhearing pertinent information in a VC or seeing someone accidentally emote in OOC and applying the knowledge to your character ICly without explanation. It also extends to knowing names, ages, and abilities of people or things your character has no experience with, simply because you OOCly have access to such information. It can be done by accident, but is typically not.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is granting your character abilities that are either impossible or improbable for the character's circumstance. It also includes a disregard for other characters' reactions in combat roleplay. A specific example would be suffering a debilitating wound and "adrenaline rush"ing through it, even if something integral like a tendon would have been cut.

Cain's overwhelming paranoia withdrew her shoulders in a swift retraction. She visibly swallowed as her eyes widened considerably. "I- could not perceive it for you," the girl awkwardly stammered out in a cadence so otherwise rigid that it was nearly militaristic. Her choice of words were noticeably strange. It sounded as though she thought about what she was going to say for much longer than she had time to. 
Her placid pout parted again as though she was going to add something, but nothing came out. She instead shook her head gently and removed herself from the situation, rushing off to blend in with the crowd if she were so lucky.
