Having grown up as the child of two meagerly successful travelling merchants, Elayne never got to settle anywhere, instead learning to quickly make friends and be able to let go of them just as quickly when her parents would move on to the next settlement. Elayne’s parents did not have any other children, leaving Elayne an only child. Often feeling lonely, this was an important part in sculpting Elayne’s personality. She learned not to grow too connected to others, instead pursuing her own goals rather than meaningful connections with others. Throughout her travels, she did, however, get to visit many cities and learn about the cultures throughout Arcas. Having marvelled at Goblin engineering, witnessed the power of Elvish magic and enjoyed Halfling parties. However, nothing inspired and drove her as much as the nobility of her Heartlander kin, the splendor, power and influence the likes of which she wanted for herself. The fact that the Imperial State values loyalty and hard work resonated with her too – she cares little about the races or backgrounds of potential companions; all that matters is what they can do for her.
Eventually, as a young adult, Elayne found her way into Helena where she learned to make a living of odd jobs, shady deals, gambling and swindling. This gave her her first real taste of gold – it would not be her last. Elayne pursued filling her emotional void with gold and power.
After some years in Helena, Elayne grew ambitious for more than a life of.... this. She sets out to discover the world and all its has to offer, longing to discover ancient ruins and novel technologies alike – and exploit them.
“Who wouldn’t want all of those?”, Elayne answered courtly. “I am Elayne, kind sir. You must be more familiar with this magnificent city. Perhaps you could show me around – and in the meanwhile we can play a round of cards, and I’ll show you some of these items I’m looking to sell. Besides, what did you say your name was?“
[If person answers]
“Well, it truly is a pleasure to meet you, sir. So, where do we go first?”, She said quickly grabbing the unprepared gentleman, taking him with her.
