In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: I avoid powergaming by only controlling my own character, i let other players choose their own reactions to my actions. Other ways i avoid it are by keeping my character realistically strong (i.e if my character is a noble female with little to no fighting skills she would not win a fight or be able to lift semi heavy objects). I make sure my character has weaknesses so they are not good at everything. An additional thing i do when roleplaying is i let my character fail tasks to open more opportunities and make it seem more realistic.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming puts your character at an unfair advantage because it lets them know things that they wouldn’t normally know in the game. For example, let’s say you saw in chat that the enemy was hiding their guns in a certain room and you wouldn’t normally know that in the game, but you go ahead and act on that knowledge anyway, that’s not really fair to the other players. It also isn’t as fun to roleplay when the actions of the other players are pointless and the story isn’t flowing naturally.

Character Name: Vivenne de Lorraine
Character Race: Heartlander
Character Gender: Female
Character Age: 20
Physical Description: Height: 5’8″ / 173 cm
Weight: 140 lbs / 64 kg
Hair: Long strawberry blonde, going below her back
Eyes: Blue
Attire: Dark turquoise medieval-styl
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Vivenne looked around carefully, then sat down, her voice at a mere whisper. "I come to you for help." She hesitated, her voice as soft as a fall of snow. "I have a craving for knowledge, for information even the king would not possess." Her eyes locked with the old hag's, full of pleading, full of hope. Vivenne had lived her whole life being treated as a mere ornament, a trophy, with an education only on the ways of proper etiquette. But she was still a woman with a thirst for knowledge, a woman who didn't want to be confined within the castle walls.
