You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Galanthor settled onto the cushion, his gaze never leaving the old hag's face. "I hail from the Duchy of Adria, a land once part of the Reformed Kingdom of Oren," he began, recounting the history of Adria's formation by Franz Vladovic and its journey through time. He spoke of the political manipulations, alliances, and expansion that led to Adria's rise to ducal status.
"My faith lies firmly in the Church of the Canon," Galanthor continued, his voice filled with reverence. "I believe in the High Pontiff Sixtus V, the spiritual successor to the prophets who revealed the Holy Scrolls. The teachings of the Church guide my actions and beliefs, shaping the very core of my existence."
He explained how Adria had prospered in the past, a remarkably populous land envied by many, yet lacking a shared cultural identity. The city of Ves, once a thriving center of commerce and life, had fallen into disarray and obscurity due to internal strife and a lack of attachment to Adria's rule of law.
"I seek to strengthen my connection with the Church," Galanthor said earnestly. "To find a deeper understanding of the scriptures, and to carry the light of Canonism wherever I go. My purpose is to spread the teachings of the Church, to uphold its principles, and to be a beacon of faith and righteousness."
The old hag listened intently, nodding as she absorbed his words. "Your journey is one of devotion and enlightenment," she said, her eyes glimmering with ancient wisdom. "The swamp may be dark and treacherous, but with your faith as your guide, you shall find the strength to navigate its challenges."
Galanthor thanked the hag for her insight, feeling a sense of clarity wash over him. As he stepped out of the tattered tent and into the swampy town once more, he knew that his mission was more than a personal pilgrimage; it was a calling to bring the light of the Church of the Canon to all corners of Almaris.
With the wisdom of High Pontiff Sixtus V and the teachings of the Church in his heart, Galanthor embarked on a new chapter of his life, eager to fulfill his role as a devout follower and a true servant of the Creator. The path ahead might be uncertain, but he was resolute in his faith and ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead in the name of the Church of the Canon.
