You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

I look around the tent, seeing if anything valuable might be put in a place that would make it less noticeable would it disappear. I don't see anything worth grabbing in the moment when I realize the old hag is awaiting an answer from me.

"Well, uh --" I stumble through my words, feeling quite nervous. "I was hoping that the reason I am here would present itself to me in due time." I reply cooly. "I come here from a small town in the desert which you've surely never heard of. I've been travelling from town to town, just making ends meet. I grew up an orphan on the streets, and those in my small town had come up with some vicious rumors about how I acquired my food and belongings. They were only rumors, of course, but I  was nevertheless forced to flee. Since then I have been travelling with no clear aim, only to explore the world and survive another day."
