In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Using out of character information to influence in character behaviour, know for example my far was due to be raided after hearing about it via the discord, and then bringing combat supplies with me when tending the farm suddenly on the off chance i "migh
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Powergaming is forcing an action on another player without them being able to react or participate. for example the bandits attack the farm, I pop my armor on and equip my bow, I fire a shot and roll a d20 to pierce and instantly kill the first assailant

Bal'Ayle Understaff is a beardling from the forest dwarven clans and has grown up in and around the great city Kal’Tarak although most comfortable above the ground he was very fond growing up amongst the mushroom groves and while not as old as he, feels that the mushrooms and the groves have a sentience older even then he. Drawn from a young age to the life of plants and nature he has long yearned to further his studies into nature, life and the forces that permeate the older forests of Atlas.

Inbetween studies Bal’Ayle works best at tinkering with wooden constructs of his own design, often trying to push the limits of the materials, his “young” age by dwarven standards has still afforded him almost two lifetimes worth of study and expertise by mere human standards and comfortable with his trade and craftsmanship supports himself with his curious devices out of simple materials like wood, stone and iron.

Approaching the end of his enforced beardling title from his peers he has begun his great journey to visit other nations and unlike the other Dwedmar, his only greed, his only thirst, is for knowledge, fascinated by the mushrooms he has spent years watching he feels that there is much to be learned from fungi, the life and death of this unusual existence, it fuels his current study into druidic teachings and this thirst for knowledge, driven by the curses given by Ibless to his own nature, his flesh, his soul via his ancestry, he seeks, reaches out for this knowledge, for in his greed and this drive, there is power to be gained.

She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

"Oh, I just, uh…" The traveler stutters, tensing up. They eye the crone, then back outside the shack. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until…

Interesting Facts:

“Very interested in studying - more so than the average forest dwarf Bal'ayle shares an affinity for dusty tomes and seeking meaning between the lines, often wanting to visit the places mentioned in the texts he is so in love with his avid interests draw him to new horizons.”  (Dedicated student and researcher)

“Bal'Ayle is not very tolerable of fools and believes in honor above all else, honest to a fault but sly, Bal'Ayle cannot help but speak up when faced with dishonorable behaviour, almost to his own detriment and frequently getting involved in situations that have nothing to do with him.” (Honour bound but willing to “bend the truth”)

“Because of his interest in studying, he has developed a sense of grandeur that is often irritating to others around him, and while silver tongued, when it serves his purpose but rarely outright lying, he is often taken as judgmental, prejudiced, and egocentric. Not the most endearing qualities, but if you can get him to swear and oath, you will never find anyone more dedicated to keeping his word. Should you take what he says at face value however, without the oath? then the truth is up for debate.” (Awfully judgemental, very prejudiced and rarely bothered in the plight of others outside of his own interests.)
