Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Cassian's fists clench, "My story is not one I share with many." He looks up, "It starts with one man. A dangerous man, who through me committed many atrocious acts. First, unbeknownst to me, he killed my brother. I was driven to a fit of rage, destroying vast parts of my hometown. Then he came to me, saying that he knew who had done it. He made me sign a contract - power for loyalty. Then he revealed that it was him. And I was powerless to do anything." The rage in Cassian's body returns, "I killed many for him. Too many. I- I can not forgive myself. I will not." He drags in a long and weary breath, "I wish for a drink, and some bedding for the night. I can pay. But more than anything, I want peace."
"I was once a foot soldier in the many wars from the last ten years. I have fought and killed many, under the control of a specific man. A terrible man. I was nicknamed the "Haunted One". Being haunted by my past. For years, I burned and bruised the kingdoms of the world, in my lord's name. Fighting for a cause I did not know. After a fight with an opposing general, I ran, hoping to find solace in a nearby village. But everyone turned me away, not wanting to face the wrath of the general. Now I wander aimlessly, looking for a life away from war and death. I'll takes any job I can find - as long as I don't have to kill. I keep to myself, carrying my sword as the last reminder of the lives I took and lost." Cassian reaches up and taps at his large sword on his back, "As my lost father used to say: "The light casts the Truth, and gives life. But Shadow remembers it."
