You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"Woah, barely noticed you there..."
Festus, visibly startled, would go and sit where she had motioned.
"You have been expecting me? If I was being honest with ya, I don't have much of a story to tell, ya sure ya got the right Dwed?"
The old hag would give a look of endearment, gesturing Festus to continue,
"Well alright then I come from a land beyond the reaches, in search of an old friend. The last thing I remember from before I stumbled ere', we were in the tavern along the long road and I had been handed some ale with a funny taste from a beautiful maiden. This might have been yesterday, or last week. My concept of time is far gone just like my tolerance for ale. Anyway, I have a faint memory of this maiden telling stories of the Dweds from this fine landscape, tales of old and new that I longed to attempt to engross myself within."
Festus would stare off through a hole in the tent and his gaze would meet a crescent moon, his mind off on a tangent with the thought of making new friends in this land so close to his grasp.
"Well? I'm not getting any younger sitting here waiting for you to finish... Go on..."
The old crone would exclaim into the darkness of the tent, Festus fixates his attention back to her, and continues.
"I found myself to be a bit of a scholar in my younger years, scribing for the various lords of the town I grew up in. I don't have much memory of that time other than my mothers face, and the beautiful cliffs that enshrouded the dwelling of my youth. I wasnt much of a troublemaker, I just tried my best to fit in and use the hands I was blessed with to the best of my ability in a number of trades, smithing being one of my favourites. I want to make it to the rest of this civilisation, so I can continue for the search of my friend, and hopefully make a lot more friends along the way in the process."
The old hag grins as Festus concludes, she adds,
"So you are the one I have been expecting..."
