    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Using out of character information as a tool to your advantage in character (such as f.ex oocly knowing the location of someone whos hiding so you go there and "find them accidentally" or something as such)
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Breaking the parameters of your character for your own gain or trying to force your actions upon others by not allowing them to respond (stating an attempt vs stating a final action, i.e "Y kills X" vs "Y attempts to kill X")

Boroth, although not asocial by any means, prefers to occupy his time with masonry rather than his kin, supposedly like his father before him, and his great grandfather, and great great grandfather. That is to say, the history of his lineage is a bit of a mystery even to him. He clings to the handful of facts he has about his family (such as their attachment to masonry) and speaks of those handful of facts with pride if prompted, but keeps it short out of fear of his reputation as a proper dark elf. In short, he reveres what he knows, but tries to hide that he knows what he feels is so little. It’s a bit muddled even to himself how he ended up in this situation, but as far as he recalls his rather small family grew more quiet about their past until only he was left. They weren’t killed off in some scheme or otherwise, they simply died uneventfully while the Iblees’ curse ensured said uneventful deaths slowly whittled them down to nothing.

 

With a few years of life experience under his belt he’s found it reasonable not to trust his wood and high-elven cousins, with his mind set on the fact that every other time they’ve tried to live under one roof, someones decided to go ahead and start a fight. He likes his own, tolerates the wood elves, but would never knowingly have his back exposed when high elves are about. “I’m no king of Oren” is a phrase he uses specifically when he thinks a high elf shenanigan is afoot. As far as the other races goes, he doesn’t really think about them much. The exception being dwarves, viewing them (the entirety of their race) as direct competition to his goals in life.

 

His goals are to try and solidify his familys name, by practicing his craftsmanship and littering the world with his works, signed with his family’s insignia, out of fear for the fact that he is halfway to complete sterility, and seemingly unable to find anyone to rebuild with, perhaps because he’s also afraid of being lost in a marriage that results in his heritage being absorbed into another family. So, he chisels away at stones to escape the assault of existential dread.

Physical Description: Of average height (6'1) but of above-average width (Brawny for a Dark Elf). Apparent weathering from manual labour, but not unkempt.
Roleplay Scenario: The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

In a bit of a weird spot because the “History” from the Dark Elves wiki stops with one sentence about a world that LotC used 2 continents ago, and I couldn’t find any timeframe in regards to the events that happened in the past going out from the Dark Elves section (or the other sections i’ve read).
