Knight is, in every sense of the word, an orphan in the lands of Ramasar.
Either his elven parents were far too poor to afford to raise a child, or they didn't like the way he looked... Or they were killed by humans, the dreadful conclusions one could come to are endless.
He was left in the streets of a small town on a shore that belongs to the southern area, the small town that went by the name Mihaki.
Given the town's access to the vast waters, it was a well-off trade town, where boats came in and out of the town with goods and commodities. However, this trade also attracted more shady characters.
On the surface of the rich and profitable trade town was a shady side, filled with thieves and criminals.
And given Knight's lackluster start, he fell into this side of town, being taken in by a human of all people.
The man's name was Farlo, and he was a shifty salesman who used his silver tongue to swindle people for their money. He sold everything and anything he could get his hands on, and he could sell anything with enough time and kind, sugar-coated words.
Now, of course, Farlo didn't pick Knight up out of the kindness of his heart, where most would see a useless, filthy dark elf, Farlo saw an opportunity...
Knight was small enough to be considered human if he hid his body, but he was still a dark elf, so maybe that could get him into their good graces...
You see, Farlo had one target audience that he couldn't get through to, Dark Elves, they didn't trust most humans, and that hurt business, but having a adopted Dark Elf child could surely lower their guard so he could reach a wider audience.
And this plan worked wonderfully. Farlo was able to reach that audience with Knight's "help."
During all of this swindling, Farlo and Knight grew close, with Knight, of course, not knowing he was being used.
Knight began to act like Farlo, sweet-talking and everything, but he was vastly different. Knight was headstrong, unlike most dark elves, who were smart and strategic. Knight was strong and more aggressive. He found a fondness for watching the criminals on the streets fight from the sidelines and began to practice with sticks he found. Farlo took notice of this and saw an opportunity...
Paying for guards that could potentially stab you in the back was expensive... So what if he took Knight's aggression and love for fighting and used that to help remove some of that cost?
And so he did, Farlo fueled the clear fire in Knight's heart with combat-related gifts, a training sword, and even a crossbow to practice with as he grew older.
Then, when Knight finally came of age... which was, Very Young at age 15... He became one of Farlo's most trusted guards, His Knight. And to show how much he "cared," Farlo gave him a suit of rusted knight armor that had been left in the ruins of a battle long past, barely hidden in the endless sands on a skeleton of a man long forgotten.
It was human armor, but given Knight's size, it fit just fine aside from the rust making it a bit hard to put on...
Farlo just told him it made him look more rugged... Or at least that was his excuse for not getting it fixed...
As the years went on, Knight stood by Farlo through every deal gone bad, or angry customer, he even did jobs for Farlo, taking some weight off his "father's" shoulders, all while making jokes and cocky remarks with his "father" intil one day, the guards of the town took notice...
Late one night, Farlo and Knight sat in a bar drinking, unaware that the guards had finally gotten wind of where, and who exactly Farlo was... And the fact they were at a bar populated by mostly criminals and thieves made the find all the sweeter...
One moment, things were fine, drinking, laughing, having a good time, and the next, chaos.
Guards burst through the door of the bar, causing some thieves and other shady people to try to flee, but that just caused even more chaos. The guards tried to wrangle every thief they could, alive or dead, didn't matter to most of them. Farlo and Knight tried to flee, and they made it far intil two guards blocked their path, one of them tackling Farlo to the ground.
What happened next was a blur, but after it all, Knight stood above two fallen guards, one dead and the other knocked out. Barely even being able to stand himself, with a stab wound in his chest and Farlo nowhere in sight, Knight stumbled through the now dark empty streets, taking refuge in a boat intil morning, hoping to avoid any more guards, as he tended to his wounds and rested his weary head...
However... What Knight didn't know is that this trade ship... with very awful security that didn't check storage... was heading off to a land Knight knew nothing about... The Land Of Azuras.
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run-down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
*Knight keeps his hand on the hilt of his sword while it rests in its sheath. He looks over at the figure as she raises her hand, and he pauses when she says she's been expecting him, but nonetheless, he sits down on the chair nearby and sighs heavily, clearly tired.* "Don't know how you were expecting me... I'm not exactly well known here." *Knight says while looking at the hag, his hand still rested on the hilt of his sword. Knight sighs lightly when she asks where he came from and what he hoped to make of himself.* "Is it that obvious I'm not from around here..." *Knight shook his head a little.* "I'm from a small town in Ramasar, I doubt you would know it... Little shore town by the name Mihaki. Nice place, but it's far from here." *Knight taps his foot onto the floor of the shack while looking down at the floor for a moment.* "I'm hoping to make a name for myself... Mostly good, I hope." *Knight scoffs lightly and snickers before he glances at the hag again.*
