It had been a long and arduous journey from Eiichi’s home – this wasn’t a journey that he’d planned to regularly undertake, but how often do your childhood friends get married? He’d received Llora’s invitation after a significant delay, due to the harrowing thunderstorms all summer long, and by his calculations, he’d arrived with barely an hour to spare before the ceremony was to begin. As he took his first steps into the city, Eiichi’s path was blocked by a well-heeled gentlemen proffering his greetings.
”Someday, it could be everything that you said. Alas, today is not that day.” Reaching into his robes for a crudely drawn map of the citadel, given to him by a sailor at a port on the journey here, Eiichi explained, “I wouldn’t have the chance to search for wealth or adventure, if I were to miss my old friend’s engagement, for she would surely strike me dead.”
