You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"Oh..My apologies for keeping you waiting then, I ran into some trouble along the way". *she'd grow a solemn expression and delicately sit on the offered cushion* "my story you say.. well, I was raised in a small town to a low income family... we struggled to survive most of the time, I remember in the winters I would always be so scared I'd stave, but we managed most of the time...that was until the winter when I was 10..." *A dark and sad expression would befell her face* "the spring and summer before that winter had been filled with famine...we had little food but my parents made sure I was fed, in that small town we always helped each other out, we were all so close to each other... that's why none of us expected one of our own to betray us. It was about midday when I smelled the smoke... I had been playing in the forest when I heard a scream and turned my head towards the town which is when the smell hit me... I raced back home and saw the town in flames but I couldn't see anyone else... that is until I rounded a corner to the food house, everyone else in the town had been tied up and placed there the food gone from sight and standing at the entrance was the local priest. He had always seemed like such a kind man who could never hurt anyone... yet there he stood a torch in his hand and a face full of darkness and malice... when he heard me he turned around and gave me a wicked smile before tossing the torch into the storage house where everyone else was.." *She'd look down her eyes filled with rage and sorrow* "He then raced over to me and held me back as I desperately tried to run to the well and try to save them...my attempts were in vain however as I listened to the screams fade out into silence. as I rushed over to try and find and survivors I was hit on the back of the head with what I know not as everything went black...when I awoke I was in unfamiliar land, scared and alone. Since then I've been traveling trying to find somewhere to call home again. I'm hoping that maybe this place can be that..."
