Aldritch was born in the Margraviate of Avistra to a family of farmers - House Westen was never a house of repute or riches, what they had they earned through manual labor. Years went by for the young man toiling in the dirt to put food on his family's table, but as many do at his age, he longed for so much more. He'd grown up watching Knights of the Empire ride off into battle for glory and honor - it was his dream. Upon turning eighteen, Aldritch departed from his family's homestead to enlist in the local militia with a burning ambition that it might lead to a greater fate than what he was born into.
Two years in the militia turned the wide-eyed farmboy into something else entirely - he still lacks the prowess that many of his betters do, but he has in him a passion to carry out the will of Avistra and, by proxy, the Empire. He stands now as a staunch loyalist within their ranks - a question resounding through his head. Will his ambition outweigh the morality his family instilled in him?
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

Aldritch's gaze fell upon the woman before shifting around the room - he was expected? He reluctantly lowered himself to sit across from her before opening his mouth. "I hail from the Margraviate of Avistra," he said softly, in contrast to the foreboding nature of her questions. What did he hope to make of himself? A good question, did he even know the answer? "I.." A pause. "I hope to one day find myself in the upper-echelons of the Empire of Man..a commander..a Knight..someone..something of import." Though even as he said it he could not be sure.
