In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Powergaming can be avoided by writing your character's actions as possibilities and attempts. For example, instead of emoting "[My Character] swings his mace downwards, crushing the goblin's skull", I'd emote "[My Character] would swing his mace downwards in an attempt to hit the goblin's skull", by doing so, you allow the other person react properly and fairly.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming can disrupt fair roleplay in many ways. Firstly, metagaming hurts the narrative coherence of the story. A set of actions can be easily disrupted if a character learns about something they're not supposed to know, for example: Let's assume there's a group planning a coup, and they are gonna have their final meeting in the woods. In case someone metagames that information, and share it with the current nation leaders, the secretive attempt will be exposed, and any chance of success will be over. Additionally, Metagaming is naturally opposed the very concept of roleplay, how are you supposed to get in the shoes of a character, see a world through their eyes if you're gonna use ooc information? It doesn't make any sense.

Character Name: Carwyn
Character Race: Human
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 32
Physical Description: Carwyn stands at 5'9'', has long hair and a beard. The man is commonly seen wearing medium armour or simple, and pratical clothes made of linen.
Roleplay Scenario:

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Carwyn put his left hand on his chest and said: "Waiting for me?" He raised both eyebrows as he stared at the old hag, attempting to recognize her with little to no success. The man took a few steps forward, approaching her, and asked: "Your reaction felt honest, though I have no idea who you are and why you were expecting me" He'd pause briefly " I'm running low on time. Can you help me find this person?" He followed up by showing her a sketch of a human face.

The hag smirked at the man's hurry, raised a bony finger, and gestured again towards the cushion " The price for that information is your story." She stared at Carwyn, who tensed up " Tell it."

The man's armor creaked as he lowered the sketch. He glanced down, and his eyes met hers " Sure..." Unable to avoid telling his backstory, he made his way to the cushion, lowering himself onto it " I grew up in a village, had a loving family, amazing friends. Everything was perfect, but I was too young to notice. My heart craved novelty, challenges, and adventure" The man chuckled " So I left the village, joined a mercenary group, made money, traveled the world, and killed people" He briefly eyed the sky through one of the many holes of the tattered tent and muttered: " Huge mistake." pausing briefly " Only time was able to knock sense into me, which made me begin my journey for atonement." The traveler raised the sketch again " That's it, here I am, trying to find inner peace and atone for my past crimes and mistakes." He sighed " So, please, where is this person?"

A smirk played across the hag's lips " Intriguing, young one" She raised her right hand and snapped her fingers. The snap echoed oddly through the tent, the candles flickered, and the sketch in Carwyn's hands switched places with a small map. "Now, leave"

Carwyn rotated his wrist to check the map out. He perused through the aged paper and muttered: "I was there last week... How could I-" He stopped as he heard the sound of the hag clearing her throat, he rolled up the map and tucked it into his satchel " Thanks." he said as he left the tent in a hurry.
