How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is a term used in roleplay at large. It refers to the practice of turning OOC (Out-of-Character) information into usable information for your IC (In-Character) avatar. While varied, it effectively refers to using information you could not have obtained ICly to make IC decisions or actions; for example, perhaps someone tells you that they found a super rare artifact, metagaming would be turning around and promptly asking them at the next IC scene about this super rare artifact that they haven't revealed to your character.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: A looser definition than metagaming, Powergaming varies greatly, and includes such things as godmodding (or God-Modeing) under its definition (and godmodding is equally contentious, as some use godmodding to mean 'autoing' and some people use godmodding to mean 'invincible'. Powergaming generally fills the niche of whatever godmodding is taken not to mean. It can come in two types:
Type 1: Autoing (I.E. 'CHARACTER' stabs 'CHARACTER 2').
Type 2: 'Godmodding' (I.E. 'CHARACTER' uses their unrivaled magical power to bring the entire city down upon 'CHARACTER 2', cackling maniacally as the city falls upon their head. Dodge this, you filthy casual.) Or, alternatively: ('CHARACTER' bursts into motion and somehow dodges the laser beam that just went through their head'.)

It's a very messy and complicated distinction, but yes, I know what it is.

Weeks of travel below decks saw Mina squinting as she emerged into the sunlight at long last. Her fellow passengers brushed past her in various states of pleasantry, some rude, most uncaring; chattering excitedly as they walk the gangplanks to the docks. The woman drew up her hood, not so much to hide her features but to shelter sensitive eyes from the blistering sun.

As she alighted on the docks at the tail of the throng, the apparent aristocrat addressing her took her aback. There was a moment of floundering panic as the result of weeks of isolation took their toll. She found her voice after a few moments, only to say; "To pay a life debt, good sir, as we must all." She bid him a hurried curtsy and hurried past, clearly not desiring to elaborate.

Hi there, as you can see, you have been accepted onto the server! Well done on your application, you’re doing great! So now, I welcome you to the wonderful community of LotC!

To answer your questions!

  1. To play any sort of real undead (Your current application is completely acceptable, as you aren't actually an undead, it's just an internal conflict), you'll have to make a creature application.
  2. As for the rule query, a person will not believe they died ICly is when they actually died in roleplay. You never actually died, so therefore your persona can believe that you have died. It's more of an internal conflict for character development than an external one anyways, so there seems to be no real, tangible reason to disallow it.
  3. Aenguls are just Angels, no heresey as far as I know :)
