Eöthain was born on a cold winter night to a loving and rich family living within a small village on the border between the Kingdoms of Norland and Haense. His mother, Gyda a well-known surgeon in the region took well care of Eöthain while he was young. His father, Eivind was a mercenary working for the prestigious silver company, leaving Gyda to tend for Eöthain alone. During his childhood he lived a good and simple life, the most of his worries being the number of chores his mother gave him. Eöthain would often help his mother in her work, helping her tend to patients. As a child he was also very sociable and likable, he had many friends and often spent his time playing with them. They would do anything from exploring the nearby woods, to steal potatoes from the neighbor’s farms. He had a good childhood filled with happiness and joy.
As he grew older, into his later teenage years, his father returns home. At first, Eöthain was overwhelmed with joy, finally getting to reconnect with his father, hear tales of his many impressive feats and challenges . However things are never so simple, soon after his father got back they had a falling out. Eöthain being upset over why he’d leave them in the first place. No amount of gifts or tales of glory could seduce him to think otherwise. As time went on, and Eöthain grew up he’d eventually move away. He wandered among the lands of Norland for quite some time, before eventually ending up in the capital Varhelm. Here he spent his time as a novice surgeon before he’d eventually meet Sofia, his future wife. He spent two years of his life in the capital, starting a relationship with the love of his life. After the two of them got engaged they decided to move back, back to Eöthain’s home and start their family there.
After getting married, and moving back to his birthplace Eöthain thought this was what his life was going to be. Living a happy and simple life. Things turned out not to be that easy though. Shortly after settling they ren into financial problems, gathering a hefty sum of debt. After Sofia got pregnant Eöthain figured he’d have to do something to solve their financial issues. So he did what his father had done before him, and embarked on a life of adventure, high risk, and high rewards. Things went as expected for a couple of years, he’d keep in touch with his family via letters and occasional visits. He spent a lot of time in the flourishing harbor in Sutica, where he worked for some wealthy merchants. After not getting any letters for four months Eöthain grew worried, trying to contact his family desperately. After not getting any responses he returned home, only to find his home, and family gone. The entire village being razed to the ground, only ashes and scattered corpses remaining. Eöthain was taken by grief, refusing to give up hope, he spent two years searching for his family to no avail. Eventually, he stopped searching, but never gave up on the hopes of one day finding them, refusing to realize their death, even though he knows they’re gone.
Upon seeing the well-dressed Gentleman Eöthain frowns slightly, giving him a few moments of awkward silence before finally opening his mouth to respond. “ Whatever you’re trying to sell me, I'm not interested, try your luck elsewhere.” Eöthain says in a somewhat stern tone, obviously trying to keep the conversation short.
The well-dressed gentleman blinks a couple times, unsure of what to say next yet he quickly recovers. “ No, I meant nothing of the kind. I am simply curious about where you’re headed next.” He says whilst simultaneously planting a smirk across his face.
Eöthain simply shakes his head, not buying the gentleman’s lie. Not a moment passes before Eöthain is on the move, bumping his shoulder into the man’s side as he passes by him. Heading in the general direction of the nearest tavern.
