You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
"y-you've been expecting me? Who are you? How do you know me?" I stutter a moment taken aback by her statement. After a short silence waiting for an answer that will never arrive I speak again "I've come here seeking my future. I'm sorry but I don't have a story to tell, not yet at least. That's why I'm here, to make one and find who I was meant to be. I just know tending the animals and wheat is not a life I want to live, maybe one day but not today." I look down at my hands unsure of myself and what to say. "I want to be a part of something to help my people and defend my land. I really want to study magic with scholars, ever since I was young magic has fascinated me. yes its a lot of work but I know I can do it if I only had some books and scrolls to learn from."

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I would work around what they do or say. if my character cant do it they might say that "your asking the impossible of me" or something similar. As for if they do something unrealistic ill try and play into it still in character "how can a human be able to do this? you must be really skilled!!!" something like that. I'll be honest I'm still very new to RP please give me advice if this happens.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: It ruins the immersion and fun of the character themselves learning and growing in the story and having a fun interaction of them learning important information. Maybe a heist to steal valuable info or just eavesdropping in on a conversation. Having a character suddenly learn something removes the fun of actually learning it.
