In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: It takes a strong dedication to immersion, fairness, and respect for other participants to avoid power gaming in roleplay. My own strategy would be to keep my character's actions realistic and grounded in reality, making sure they don't wrongly benefit from these or control events without letting others respond. As an example, say my character is a rogue fighting at a tavern. I would say something like, "I throw my right hand toward my opponent's jaw, aiming to land a solid hit," instead of "I instantly knock out my opponent with one strike," which doesn't allow the other player the chance to react. Their response will decide the outcome, regardless of the force behind it could be sufficient to stun them. This allows the other player to choose how their character responds—whether to evade, accept the hit, or counterattack—making the experience more collaborative and exciting for everyone.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming disrupt the game and ruin the lore of the game and pretty much creates an unfair advantage and diminishes the realism of the experience.

Character Name: Folluin Boozari
Character Race: Dark Elf
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 20
Physical Description: height 6'0, weight 200, hair short white , eye color swamp green outfite is brown boots, black pants with a white or cream shirt with a side cape.
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”Yo

Taking a slow step forward, my character Folluin Boozari narrows his swamp-green eyes and looks around the darkened tent. The ominous shadows dance over the walls made of tattered cloth as the candlelight flickers. He pauses, exhaling through his nose, the pungent smell of moist wood and old plants filling his lungs. He places his hands on his knees and lowers himself onto the provided cushion. He adopts a calculated stance, neither completely relaxed nor overtly defensive. He is unnerved by the hag's sly stare, but he hides it behind an uneven smile. The hag's yellowed teeth show when she smiles. Lifting the bowl, she urges for him to peek inside. "Are you intrigued by what you are seeing?"

Example: You look at old hag notice the smell coming off her as she speaks.  "Ah, I uh, I just happened to be adventuring through these woods and saw this town and wanted to see what is happening in here"

"Oh, I just, uh…" you stutter, tensing up. You eye the crone, then back outside the tent. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until…

Hi there! Your application has been put on pending as there are changes that need to be made before you can be accepted. See below.

  • Your listed username doesn't seem to work. Can you check again and make sure it has been spelled correctly?

  • Please review your explanation on how to avoid powergaming. We are looking for an explanation on how you personally would go about avoiding powergaming yourself (with an example).
    • On this page you can find the definitions for both this term.
  • Please expand upon your roleplay scenario. Consider adding a bit of character background. I'm looking for at least 6, reasonably lengthy sentences.

  • Please consider taking a different character name, more fitting for an Elf. Given that "James" is a primarily Human name. This isn't a requirement, but if you chose it please make sure that it is explained as to why your Elf is using a Human name.

If you do not make these changes within 48 hoursyou will be denied. When you are finished, please message me on Discord @qraw_ to let me know, or if you don’t have Discord, send me a forum message, and please do ask if you have any questions.
