Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

“Thank you for the invitation” she says gruffly as she lowers herself onto the cushion, rolling her shoulders of the fatigue of travel.
“As you already know, I spent many years in the service of a mercenary company, the Clawed Griffons. We traveled the realm in search of gold and glory, taking on whatever dangerous contracts came our way. Plenty of monsters. Numerous bandits and... A war at one point. It never seemed to end.”
She exhales through her nose.
“I grew tired of it. Of always fighting the next thing, never building anything that lasted. I spoke of weariness with my captain and he said,"Valk, you need to find your new joy of life if it 'aint with us time to spread ur wings and fly." So I left. That’s when I saw your missive. 'Looking for able-bodied hands to help restore this place.”
Her gaze lifts, steady and unflinching.
“I may not have much experience with rebuilding, but I’m strong, and I don’t quit. Whatever work you need done, I won’t slow you down. If you’ll have me, I’m yours to hire. I'm just... searching for a new purpose what better way to start that than with something new.” She says with a grin as she waits for the Old hag to respond.
