You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
Anavallel takes a deep, shaky breath and sit cross-legged on the provided pillow. "Where to begin? I... suppose where every good story starts." Uh oh. Anavallel can feel a ramble coming on. "Once upon a time, I didn't exist. Then I did. I was born in a small cabin on the water to... well, my parents, obviously." She shakes her head slightly, then waves her hands around for a moment, as if trying to shake loose and bat away the poor start she's made to her introduction to this (hopefully nice) older woman. "maln was a fisherman, going out to sea every morning, coming back after dark every night. The day I finally got to go with him was the one day he didn't come back...." Anavallel finally manages to get her thoughts back on track. "But that's not important right now. What is important, and actually relevant, and actually answers your question is this." She takes a moment to collect her thoughts, brows furrowing. "I'm looking for a new family. maln is gone, so is my haelun. I never got the chance to meet anyone else. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself, help others, make the world a better place, and hopefully find some new friends along the way. Is that.... what you were looking for?" Anavallel shifts in her seat, suddenly worried she's somehow scared the woman off, even though the older woman is the one who asked.
