Born in 1619 during a time of restless neutrality for the Harian Sultanate, Zeroun was found alone near the mosque as a child and raised as an orphan. His devotion to God quickly overwhelmed much else, and he began studying sufism at a young age. Martial arts soon followed as a means to discipline both his mind and body, and he was only in his teens when he began assisting others in training similar discipline, finding both solace and strength in the like-minded that surrounded him.
Zeroun was nearing 20 when the decision was made to blend the Harian people into the nation of Santegia in 1639. Wary of the controversial move and distrustful of those he perceived to be warmongers, Zeroun joined many of his people as they called themselves part of the Kadarsi Tribe, and though his focus remained on his disciplines, he kept a close watch on Auda and the attitude of the Santegian people. It was only after Sayora abdicated the throne to Auda in 1660, and Auda made the decision to abandon the city to its fate, that he decided it was time to make his own way.
Like his people, Zeroun became a nomad, although he did so alone. Retaining his spiritual knowledge and his martial discipline, he began traveling the world with little but his staff and a desire to become a greater force for peace. The war-torn world he’d grown up in needed peace, especially now, when nations were splitting and peoples who had once been allies were now at each others’ throats.
Zeroun has now been wandering for more than thirty years, and his age shows itself in his gaunt features and white beard. He tires more easily than he used to and now walks with a rough-hewn staff. He spends more time resting than he used to and often finds himself spending a week or two at a time in a single city, resting and relaxing before returning to his journey. Still, he never stays in one place for too long, as he quickly becomes restless.
