How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Going beyond what the game allows you to do, playing the game not as the game it is but as the game you want.
An Example would to be informed by a friend outside of the world that not too far from where you're camping is an ancient temple left unguarded but had many riches inside and you decided to go to that temple the next day. This would be considered metagaming due to the fact that your character was not aware that this temple existed and would most likely have never found it.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Using an in-world mechanic to give oneself an unfair or unrealistic advantage over others.
An Example would be if someone was playing a Halfling and was cornered against a very tall hedge and they were able to easily jump that hedge. They were powergaming due to the fact that a Halfling would not be able to jump that.
