You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
"Ugh by my sister's beard" I grunt with frustration, pupils dilate and voice thickens "SO YA REALLY WANNA HEAR IT ALL ?? " I say with a higher volume and a sudden burst of anger
the hag smiles "calm down short one or your hair will grow brighter than your tee.. of never mind your teeth are already as orange as your hair" said the hag while showing disgust at the end
, the tension fills the air and and i take step forward towards the hag
" BAHAHAH !! good one ya old hag !, seems youve met a handful of dwarves in your lifetime eh?" I say bursting with laughter and patting the old hag's back as the ice breaks between the two of us, broadening her smile the hag says " heheh well ive seen enough of you hotheaded bearded bastards out here back in my day so i picked up your costumes "
she coughs and points to the settling sun ray sneaking through the tear in the top corner of the tent "we don't have much time before sundown, i reckon you ought to be going as well, out with it, let me hear your story son of the mountains "
"alright alright, i just nearly got here, y'er the worst host ive had so far even worst than the bear that attacked me when i tried sleeping in her cave next to her children , you know she gave me a fair hour " i say while raising one eyebrow and tilting my head back with a demanding tone,
"she probably mistook you for one of her cobs, hehe if only you showered that day or any day in the past year she might've let you sleep there " said the old hag chuckling through her words
"alright fine ill tell ya, phew what a stubborn hag , you win!" i say looking very surprised and defeated, i sit back on the cushion and start telling my story ,
"My name is Ameen Harvestmoon and not too long ago i was but a simple miner with a wee bit of gold saved to buy me own store in the city and become a weapon smith, ever since i was a child i would wrestle with the mountains goats after pissing them off about their ugly horns and me old brother was always there to give me a beating after he'd learn i havent been helping around the mines, OH the MINES ive always hated those stinking dark pits, never was a dwarf to settle *sigh* maybe that's my problem "
i see the old hag growing impatient so i say "oh alright alright fine, so one day my gold was stolen and no one else knew but me that i stashed it in the old acorn tree ,t'was a stupid idea i know i know but it was gone! im broken and i spend the week getting barrels of ale down my throat to dull the pain , one night i hear about this new city in the horizon from a drunk highlander ",
crowd around him, ale in his hand and a fine maid under his other arm he spoke loud "if only you were to get out of your little mountain, you'd see this amazing city, full of life and adventure, fine ladies from all races hahaha *hiccups* and all the master smiths , masons and chefs are rumored to have been accepting apprentices from all races and ages and backgrounds since they need workforce, loads and loads of it ",
i continue " he spoke of a perfect place that id only see in me happiest dreams, so i tailed the highlander the next morning, granted my mule was as slow as a .. well a mule i guess ! i lost him in the way and took refuge in a cave from the cold rain but that she-devil mama bear chased me into the swamps and i had to walk all the way to here on me friggin wet feet!!" i pull some stinky gill-weed like algae from my boot and say "want some of the finest samples of swamp weed ma'lady ? while we're at this let me take these off before my feet turn into fins" i took my boots off and put outside the tent and come back to say " so yeah me whole life, is in shambles unless you have the direction of a new town called <insert spawn point here>"
