    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: acting in character on events that you know out of character, but you could not have known in character (example: acting on an aspect of a characters backstory that you heard about out of character, or knowing the details of secretive locations that your character has never been to before)

Avaelri would look towards the well dress man "what brings me to this city" he repeated, he then after a moment smiled along with a chuckle before he went on to answer the mans question, "well I guess you could say that I am here to look for answers, a reason to be traveling" he then went to walk past the man stopping for a moment though and, placing a hand on the man's shoulder "well, I shall be off as much as I would love to have a longer chat I have to find my answers" he then placed his hand back to side continuing down the road and disappearing out of view as he rounded a corner.
