    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Acting on information that your character does not know, but your player knows. One egregious example is Player 1 knowing that Player 2 has a character by the name of X, and Player 1's character, or characters, treat X differently based on the relationship between Player 1 and Player 2.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Performing an action that, in essence, is metagaming, that by definition will increase the power of the character, but to the detriment of quality role play. Using an item because it's "uber" rather than it being something that the character would use. Wearing a skull amulet of death while being an elf could be a canonical example.

Read the scenario below this box and type out inside of this box how your character might respond. Your response must be at least four sentences long and include at least one action and at least one piece of dialogue surrounded by quotes.

 

“Welcome!” He began. “What brings you to this lovely city? Adventure? Wealth? Or some grand aspirations to elevate your place in society?”

 

Hado began to speak, then stopped himself.  He began anew, "I'm looking for the slave district."

 

The well-manicured man replied, "You're in luck, I'm on my way there myself.  I hope I won't be bidding against you."

 

Hado replied, "I'm there to look for my family.   They might be there, just because of people like YOU, who somehow think that people can be property."

 

The well-manicured man furrowed his brow, then quickly said, "Hmm, perhaps I'll go by myself," then quickly added as a formality, "perhaps I'll see you later."

 

Hado commented to himself, in a wistful tone, "I'd love to see you later.  Perhaps in a dark alleyway.  Maybe you won't see me, though."
