How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Avoid doing it: Act like the real life character would do, would it jump over a cliff? Would it hold his breath 24 hours? Would it try and stab the king? No? Then don't do it. And
Avoid suffering it: Act like what the other player is doing is not happening, is the other player trying to rob you while you're looking at him? But he keeps insisting he is *very, very sneaky* and I can't see it? Act like you see it, if that ends in your death then so be it.

Besides those examples, the easiest way it to write what you wanna do as an intention rather than a fact. "I will try to run away" instead of "I ran away", or "I really want that necklace, could I convince you to trade it?" instead of "I really want that necklace, I convinced you to give it to me". Or something along those lines.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: It makes characters feels omnicient as it obtained information from out of character roleplay, it wouldn't happen in real life as we would be gods. It wouldn't be fun if my character gets fooled and tricked into a trap I already knew of, but if my character had no way of knowing about it, then so be it. It wouldn't be fun either if other players abused of it.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. Zuromar Goldbuster, a dwarf of cave descent, walks into the tattered tent with a determined yet cautious stride. The flickering candlelight dances upon his face, casting shadows that accentuate the lines etched by years of toiling at the forge. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

I take a seat on the cushion, feeling a mix of anticipation and trepidation. The hag's presence is intriguing, as if she holds some ancient wisdom within her wrinkled form. I begin to speak, my voice steady yet filled with emotion.

"My name is Zuromar Goldbuster, a dwarf hailing from the depths of the caves. For as long as I can remember, I have been immersed in the art of blacksmithing. The clang of hammers, the heat of the forge, they are the backdrop of my existence."

I delve into my lifelong quest for knowledge, my insatiable curiosity pushing me to explore the secrets of the trade. I recount my travels to distant lands, learning the blacksmithing traditions of different races, seeking to unlock the hidden techniques and forge new creations. The hag's eyes gleam with understanding as I speak, as if she senses the fire that burns within me.

But amidst my pursuit of mastery, tragedy struck. I share the heartbreaking tale of my brother's untimely demise at the hands of a mysterious assassin. The memory of that red dagger, crafted from an unknown material, haunts my dreams. It fuels my determination to uncover the truth and bring justice to those responsible.

"Many years ago, a misterious assassin ended prematurely with the life of my youngest brother, for reasons unknown to me and everyone around. The only memory, the only clue I posses that may bring whoever killed him to justice is the unique color that dagger had, that so far I have never seen or heard about before, this is what motivates me to travel around the world and learn about blacksmithing on every nation and now, every piece I forge carries a piece of my soul, a tribute to my fallen brother. I strive to create not only works of art but also weapons of strength and justice. I yearn for a life filled with happiness, a loving family, and the opportunity to pass on the legacy of blacksmithing to future generations."

"Now, I turn to you, wise one. In your ancient wisdom, do you hold any answers? Can you provide guidance on my journey to uncover the truth?" - I await your words, ready to forge my destiny and find the justice that has eluded me for far too long.

As I finish speaking, I study the hag's expression, hoping to find a glimmer of insight in her eyes. The tent is filled with a heavy silence, and I brace myself for her response, ready to embark on the next chapter of my adventure.
