You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
*Aleydria avoided the hags gaze, though she smiled to be polite. This cabin was dreary and her host frightened her, but she maintained her composure and took a seat as was directed.* "I'm afraid there is not much to share. I'm merely a wanderer these days. I have not accomplished anything in life and I'm down to my last bit of food, I guess you could say I'm down on my luck these days? *she'd snicker lightly idly fiddling with the cloth at the end of her dress* "Regardless.. It was my own doing that brought me to where I am. I can only hope now for mild experiences and good company. That being said, how are you?"

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: By maintaining realistic expectations of what you can and cannot do. As a brand new character if someone beats me up with a sword and all I have is a leaf and dirt to my name more than likely I'm not coming out of that with a smirk and one-shotting him with my left pinky finger. Just be practical, fair, use common sense, and follow the rules. That is how I would avoid powergaming.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts fair roleplay because it's giving your character an unfair and unrealistic advantage using out of character knowledge. Something your character in the roleplay world would otherwise not have obtained yet or at all in some cases. It just ends up with you upset and other players also upset so generally stick to the rule of thumb of- maybe you do know this and that ooc, but does your character know it? If not then act only according to how the character would respond given what they know.
