She was born to immigrant halfing parents in the empire. They owned and mantained a small rundown farm. She is the oldest of six children. She went to work as a maid for a fine lady after her mother fell ill. she sends most of her wages back to her family.
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

Susie jumps, timid as a mouse "Ah-!" Susie bows her head politely, blushing in embarrassment. "I'm so sorry for coming in unannounced." Susie gets her wits about her and takes the offered seat. Shifting her weight around in the old, hardwood chair to find comfort. "I heard you needed a caretaker."
