    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is the point at which a player has perused or knows something on sites or something and make their character mysteriously thoroughly understand said thing. For instance if Alex found that there was this very powerful sword move on the wikipedia and then go into his character and use the move.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is the point at which a player makes an unreasonable character or thing that would make them ridiculously amazing. For instance if Jayden said he was picked by his town to be the king with an overwhelming sorcery that could beat anybody.

Xander walks out off the boat and wanders into the streets when he gets crowded by people and merchants trying to sell all sorts of things to him. When he finally breaks free from the crowd a well dressed gentleman walks up to him and says "Welcome, What brings you to this lovely city? Adventure? Wealth? Or some grand aspirations to elevate your place in society?" With which Xander responded quickly with "I came here for adventure and trying to become a great knight/crusader"
