Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
My name is Dre'ik, son of Thersci and Metir
Of a humble beginnings I was bred and born; tending to our family farm with my father and 2 brothers. For a long while, our village was neither prosperous but nor did it ever request the Gods for boons of favor for our lands provided but all of what we needed. War speckled our lives throughout, some were lost and others even found. Buildings were burned and our Gods were desecrated but we never turned our eye, favor or hides. We fought every time the envious came across our lands in search of an easy gathering, for everything we had was what we needed; we had never a choice but to stay our homes and fight. Again and again we drove back the various bastards but before long the single casualties over the decades began to wane and wear on our populace. The attacks more emboldened by our diminishing warriors; we lost our home. I lost my family. For more lunar cycles than I can count, I tracked the bands of marauders down. My tactics may have not always been brave or honest, but they were effective and through the agings as I became a man, my quest was satiated at the finale gasp of blood curdled breath as I laid the final soul to rest. My family is avenged, my home will never be again and I have no other kin to turn to. The only solace I have found in my plight is literature, many cities had books and many monks were willing to teach me how to read and write provided I stayed my hand in their company and offered my body as service to their Godly temple and to which I found a comfort in the exchange. I practiced my fighting ability when and where I could and empathized on learning a calm mind in the lessons those monks had to offer. Now that my existence is over as an avenger, I do not know where to go and I fright at what will be my life in the future without a consideration for it.
As for now, I am a man with nothing to call his own. Lost in his own favor and guidance, I wander these grounds in search of a meaning. My name is Dre'ik and my will has been done and now I seek words from you Witch, what does a scry into my future behold.
