How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: depends on the situation and what is asked of me. I would probably act confused and as if I have no idea what they are asking of me, or offended if it is offensive, or do some sort of malicious compliance that back fires on them but doesn't ruin the mood but maybe makes them realize just what they asked of me. overall, regardless of the execution, my plan will always be try my best to get out of the uncomfortable situation with out causing too much of a stir. if they are really making me feel uncomfortable I would simply get away as soon as possible and speak with staff if possible about the behavior.

How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: it makes it so anyone can learn or do anything they want with out working for it and no one will know because you can always claim you "heard/learned it out of character" and it also creates an unfair advantage against people who act as if you don't know because truthfully you "don't" know. it makes it really hard to make an informed decision on how to approach a character.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

I hesitate for a moment before trying to sound confident with my words. "I was told that there were some herbs here that I wouldn't ever see back home. I have become very intrigues with herbs, alchemy and potion brewing as of late." I anxiously wait for her to respond to what I have to say before I realized she never stopped gesturing to the cushion. Embarrassed, I hurry to sit down.
