    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Meta-gaming is using your own knowledge as your character's knowledge regardless of whether the character should know or not.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Power-gaming is saying that your character can do unrealistic or unfair actions, such as punching hard enough to knock down a castle.

Thorin smiles as best he can. “Uhm, hi! I, uh, am trying to become a blacksmith!” Thorin exclaimed awkwardly, trying not to provoke the gentleman. Under his breath, he quietly muttered; “Please go away, please go away...”

Quickly he looked up and added; “I’ve actually got to, uhm, get going, yeah. There’s a meeting with my teacher I’ve got to attend.” Thorin hoped it wasn’t too obvious he had no teacher.
