You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
The dwarf politely salutes the woman, trying to hide his disgust at the state of the tent, but not wanting to offend his host. He asks himslef who in their right mind would use cushions in such a humid atmosphere, but nonetheless, he is weary of his journey and a bit of respite is more than welcome. After much gesticulation, putting his pack on the side and trying to sit while carefully moving his clothes away from any wet spot, he finally lies on the rancid pillow. "I am grateful fer yer 'ospitality, truly. It's been quite a voyage from the northern mountain to 'ere, and my feet are quite sore. So again, I thank you. Now, I'm quite surprised to 'ear you've been expecting me, as I myself wasn't expecting to end up in this, er, charmin' town seein' as I was plannin' on goin' through Haense rather than these 'ere swamps. But as luck would 'ave it, the road through the city was closed to travelers on account of there bein' a strange fellow 'idin in the woods or some such, and they didn't much like an unfamiliar lad such as myself wanderin' about so, 'ere I am. Other than that, despite yer generosity, I'm afraid there's not much story I can give ye to repay yer kindness for I'm a simple dwarf, goin' through life as it comes. I've come from the northern lands of my family to travel to the kingdom of Urguan ye see, as I'm lookin' fer business opportunities. The time had long come fer me to leave the family cave y'know ? Luv me folk dearly, but they got no nose for business. So I thought I needed to go back to my roots, you understand ? Back to ol' Urguan. Surely, among my kin, opportunities fer work, business and such should be aplenty ! I've grown weary of working fer Yrrom-" Blegywryd stopped in the middle of his sentence, coughing awkwardly. "I mean no offense, of course. You'll 'ave to excuse me, I'm much more at ease dealing with my own kin, which is part of why I've left my northern home. Anyway ! I've gone on rambling and rambling, I'm sure you've grown quite bored with me and my story, and I would not want to take up too much of your time, so I'll be takin' my leave for now. I bid ye farewell and may Armakak bring good fortune on your future endeavours !" As he finished talking, Blegywryd brushed off his clothes, picked his pack back up and left the tent, cursing under his breath the folly of folks who'd voluntarily chose to live in such a wet place.

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I avoid powergaming when roleplaying by taking into consideration what can my character do and cannot do at his scale, and leaving my action open-ended so that my interlocutor can react properly. One thing that helps is also not to get too attached to a character, and remembering that this character is not you. Something bad happening to it can be a good opportunity for roleplay.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts roleplay as most people trust other people to only use information their character should have access to. It can be on a small scale as in a character using something that has been said in a whisper or OOC, or on a large scale as in someone taking offense from an information that should only be known by a private circle.
