You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Example: "Hello ma'am," Idris mutters as he slowly glances around the room. The musty smell of this tent made his skin crawl. Why couldn't people keep things clean? "I am Idris Shadren of the Mali'ker. I have heard through legend that you can preform," Idris paused. He worriedly glances around his shoulder, double checking that they were alone. After a second he lowered his voice to a whisper, "spirit walk."

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I always like to take constant reminders of "what if that happened to me." Excluding any abilities that I may get in the game, one punch to the jaw will either flat out knock me out, or at least send me to the ground to the point of not being able to fight any more. I also remember that it is a shared story and that helps me avoid main character syndrome. I want other people to have cool moments and do awesome things and that may come at the expense of my character, and that is just the magic of roleplay. Having your character never die of get injured is boring. Sometimes the colest moments are when you are executed on the battle field after putting up your greatest last stand.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Because at that point it isnt roleplay anymore. You are trying to not just play a game, but become your character. I play a ton of dungeons and dragons so I've gained a good understanding of this but you always need to ask yourself. Would (roleplay character) know this information. How did he hear about it. Would he believe it? Etc... Metagaming ruins the atmosphere and that sucks. Lets say I have some amazing trump card, like a hired bowman on the character im fighting. There may be abilities that allow for a character to dodge or block the arrow, but if the preumptively moved out of the way it would be so lame and unfair.
