    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Example: someone asks for something in OOC chat and mentions where they are. I use that information to go to the said area and rob them. My character cannot know where the other person is but I use info I got out of character and used it in RP. Another example: I looked up on wiki some information about some magic and then my character without learning anything in game or asking anyone about it just knows how to use that magic.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Using overpowered attacks and basically performing actions on other players without them having a possibility to change the outcome.
    Example: I am a bandit and I see a player I want to rob. So I walk over to the person and I say "Darius attacks the player with his sword and with a clean swipe his head falls off" and then I rob him and walk away. The player has no way to do anything about it and the whole RP is ruined.

Edward goes to the NGS museum and library in Providence and asks the girl working there "Excuse me, miss, but I was looking for a book 'The Tale of Augustus Blackmont'. Could you point me to it, please?" 

 

The girl smiles back "Of course, please follow me." She walks over to the bookshelf and carefully takes out a book with many rips and tears. "Is this the one you're asking for?"

 

"Yes, it is." He replied, his face lighting up upon seeing the book surviving all these years in such a great condition. He takes it carefully from her hands and wraps it in cloth, gently putting it in his bag. "I wish to bring it back home and study it. Could I have it for a couple of saints days? I promise Ill bring it back in one piece!"

 

With the same wide smile she replies "No worries, as long as you bring it back in the same shape as you received it. If you ever need assistance with anything else, please don't be shy from asking me. I'm always around."

 

He dipped his head "Thank you miss." He signs the lorraine at the woman and walks out the door, heading straight home.
