I rub the toe of my boot into the plank I'm standing on. "I'm... just passing through."

 

Realizing the man is staring at me, wanting more, I sigh and meet his gaze. "And I'm looking for someone, but I have no idea if she's been here. She's not very tall, and has beautiful brown hair. She usually wears a silver neck... lace..."

 

I realize all too late that I've been rambling and boring the man, who is staring at me with a look in his eye I can't quite place. "Sorry," I say. "I'll be on my way."

 

Before he can say anything else, I pull my cloak around me and shoulder through the crowd behind him, searching for the nearest place to get a drink.
