Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Example:
I lower my head as I step fully into the tent, the candles flickering off the chipped steel of my zweihander. With a dull thud, I rest the blade point-down against the floor, gauntleted hands folded over the pommel.
“I come from the stone lands beyond the swamp,” I say, my voice steady but worn. “Villages burned. Roads overrun. Things crawl at night now that shouldn’t.”

“I was told an old woman here sees what others can’t. That she knows why the dead won’t stay buried… and why the End grows restless.”
I take the offered seat, armor creaking.
“I see you’ve been expecting me,” I add quietly
