Giostyle

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Giovani pauses just inside the tent, wrinkling his nose at the damp air. His boots squelch faintly as he shifts his weight, gaze flicking between the floating candles and the old woman. “Expecting me, you say?” he replies, voice carrying a soft chuckle that’s more nervous than amused. “That’s a first. Usually, I’m the one knocking on doors unexpected.” He brushes off his sleeves and lowers himself onto the cushion, careful not to dirty it more than necessary. “Name’s Giovani. I buy, I sell sometimes junk, sometimes treasures, depends on who’s asking.” He leans forward, lowering his voice. “Heard there’s somethin’ out this way worth seeing. Rare herbs, strange trinkets things folk in cleaner towns pay good coin for. But if you’ve truly been waiting for me...” His green eyes narrow slightly, a flicker of humor under the suspicion. “Well, maybe you’ve got somethin’ to sell too. Just don’t tell me it’s curses. I’ve had my fill of those in the last town.”
