    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: the best way to avoid powergaming is to keep everything grounded in a sense of reality. Some examples would be; A 9 year-old would most like not win a fight against a 25 year old, A Goblin would not win against a Olog without tools (definitely not in hand to hand combat), and you are not going to be able to just say "nuhua I'm actually immune to all damage and don't die".
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: It creates unfair moment where some one can use information they found out through friends to disrupt the roleplay. An example would be if someone found out about a invasion of a location because their IRL friend knows about it and talked about in at lunch, then they tell other about it in roleplay as if their character knew, this in turn disrupt the flow of the roleplay and gives that persons group of players an unfair advantage.

Physical Description: 5'11", lean yet toned Goblin with light green skin with even lighter scar marks, dark green hair with undercut, wares pants and suspenders.
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"Ah, well, I'm just passing through, I'm looking for scraps no one may need... Do you have any?" I glance past the old crone looking to see if they have any scraps they may give. As the light darkens with anxiety I stand up abruptly and say "I'm s-sorry for bothering you I will get going." I exit the tent while muttering.
