    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is the opposite of roleplaying. Metagaming is the method of exploiting the systems, rules, and structure of a game in order to achieve a desired outcome in the most efficient way possible. The abstract concepts of plot and story are stripped to their most basic form, or completely ignored if there is no binary advantage to be gained from them. The only focus of the metagamer is to achieve a goal, nearly always one that is quanitfiable (e.g. completing all achievements, reaching max level, farming currency/items), and to find the most effective means to do so.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is the coping mechanism used by people who can't see beyond their own reflection. Powergaming usually manifests as an individual who has convinced themselves that they/their character is undefeatable, immortal, omniscient, and generally incapable of failing to do what they want to do. Fundamentally, powergamers view the world as something that happens to them, not them as something that happens unto the world, and as a consequence tend to be near-sighted, egocentric, and highly defensive.
