Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

The small hobbit slowly steps into the tent and sits on the cushion.
“My name is Bramblefoot Greenhill. I come from far hills and quiet lands where hobbits live peaceful lives. I left my home because I was curious about the world beyond our fields and forests.”
He looks around the strange tent and the floating candles.
“But I must admit, I did not expect to end up in a swampy town like this… especially meeting someone who says they were expecting me.”
He looks at the old hag carefully.
“So tell me… why were you expecting a small hobbit like me?”
Example:
The small hobbit shifts nervously and rubs the back of his neck.
“Oh, well… I didn’t exactly plan to come here,” he says quietly. “I was traveling far from my home, from green hills and quiet fields where my people live.”
He glances at the floating candles with wide eyes.
“I’ve always been curious about the world beyond our lands. Though I must admit… I didn’t expect to find myself in a swamp like this.”
He sits a little straighter on the cushion.
“My name is Bramblefoot Greenhill. And if you truly were expecting me… then perhaps you know something I don’t.”
"Oh, I just, uh…" you stutter, tensing up. You eye the crone, then back outside the tent. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until…
“Oh… well… my name is Bramblefoot Greenhill,” he says, sitting down carefully on the cushion. “I come from far away hills where life is quiet and peaceful.”
He looks around the strange tent and the floating candles.
“I left my home because I wanted to see more of the world… though I didn’t expect my journey to bring me to a place like this.”
He looks back at the old hag with curiosity.
“And if you were expecting me… then perhaps you know why I am here.”
