Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
"He" Vulpine smiles and sits down onto the cushion. "It's quite a long story..."
"I come from a small clan of wood elves that had devoted themselves to the study of illusions and trickery. The fox goddess took notice of our clan and blessed us with her powers, and so, we became the kitsune."
"We lived there for thousands of years, enjoying life and playing tricks on humans, because it was fun. Until I was born..."
"There wasn't a prophecy about my birth or anything, but illusions come so easily to me, that must have freaked out the clan of dark elves nearby, and they retaliated."
"They struck in the middle of the night, killing everyone but me... I don't remember much from that night but I do remember fighting and killing most of them. But then I wasn't in charge of my body, something possessed me. I don't know what it was, but it was enough for dark elves to start spreading rumors about the so-called demon kitsune that walks the night."
"And so I decided to walk the world and figure out who and what the spirit that possessed me that night is. And I won't stop until I get that knowledge..."
