    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming basically gives players an advantage when they use knowledge outside of what their character should know, as an advantage.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is when people minimalize flaws and weaknesses in their characters.

Ara would scan him up and down, debating if he's a tacky salesman or a promising opportunity. She'd smile at him and introduce herself, in hopes that he might reveal that he had a master of high social standing. If not, she'd continue on to the markets and continue with selling and buying what she collects on her travels.
