    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I avoid powergaming in roleplay by creating set rules for my character's capabilities and sticking to those rules. I control only the actions and thoughts of my character and not anyone else's.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts fair roleplay by catching other roleplayers off guard and interfering with the established canon of the roleplay.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Mariele narrows her eyes at the stranger, unsettled by her intrusive request. What right does she have to her story when she doesn't even know her name? "I'm Mariele," she reply in aversion, sitting down across from her. She looks around the tent as her eyes adjust to the dim candlelight. "You've... been expecting me? How do you know who I am?"
