You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Example: I take a seat slowly and with caution, not breaking my gaze with the old woman.
"I'm.. really not sure how you recognize me, I'm almost afraid to ask. If you really don't know my story, then let me begin by telling you that it is one of many mistakes."
The woman gestures to continue
"Right, so. How do I break this down for you. Six or seven months ago, I found myself wrapped up in some shady business in a huge port town way South of here. I'll hold off on the name for now. Now I'm not one to get mixed up in bad business, really - it's not in my blood. But I needed the scratch badly. You try making an honest living in a fishing town as a professionally educated redstone engineer! My expertise wasn't appreciated nor my skills required... beggars on the street were bringing in more than me in a week. I probably should have listened to my folks when they told me it was a risky career path. What was I getting to? Right. I stepped on a few toes, forgot about a few debts that I owed, yadda yadda, I ended up having to skip town - with a small hunting party close behind. Now, the real trouble only really began when I dispatched the first handful that came after my head. Interesting thing about fisherman that do crime for a living, they're not the brightest - redstone traps, it's like dark magic to them, you see... My actions were questionable in hindsight and jacked up my bounty pretty high. Raised a few eyebrows. So to be perfectly frank with you, I'm on the run in search of a place to dig my heels in and begin a new life from scratch. I'm a wanted man, lady."
