    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: To avoid power gaming in roleplay, one should format their emotes in a way that allows others a chance to react/defend themselves1. For example, instead of writing "She would stab her right through the heart, killing her instantly", which doesn't give the other players a chance to react to your emote, you could write "She would attempt to stab her right through the heart". Another way to avoid power gaming is to keep your bounds of control in actions strictly within yourself and keep assumptions to a minimum.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"Oh, I just, uh…" you stutter, tensing up. You eye the crone, then back outside the tent. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until…

- In your Roleplay Scenario & Backstory, please make sure to include at least six sentences. If you’re stumped on what to add. I recommend saying where your character is from, how was it growing up? Maybe talk about your character’s parents?


- Please remember to include backstory in the Backstory & Roleplay Scenario, even if your character doesn’t verbally talk about it.

 

- Please make sure to mark out what your character is saying with quotation marks.

 

- Please make sure to use actions in your backstory/roleplay scenario.

 

- Your skin isn’t appropriate for our medieval fantasy setting (your character has jeans). Your skin also does not match your character's physical description (they have yellow hair). Please change it. If you can’t find a new skin, please take a look at our skin archive:
